Trending DIY CBD-Infused Bath & Beauty Products (Plus How To Make Them)

Just when you thought your bath and beauty routines couldn’t get any better, CBD shows up!

This hemp-derived wonder is proving to be a game-changer for skin and self-care. It can soothe inflammation, reduce signs of acne, and take the edge off stress and anxiety.(1,2)

Just about every type of personal care product is tapping into CBD’s advantages, so you won’t have any issue trying it for yourself. But if you have an ounce of do-it-yourself spirit, you’ve likely wondered…

“Do I really need to go out and buy that new (insert the hottest new CBD beauty product here)? Or can I recreate it at home?”

We had the same thought, so we did some digging. After scouring CBD recipes on Pinterest, wading through skincare and CBD subreddits, and researching search engine trends, we found out which CBD products people are successfully making at home right now.

Here are the trending CBD tutorials you need to refresh your bath and beauty stash.

DIY CBD Bath Bombs

Bath bombs take the cake for the most popular do-it-yourself CBD bath and beauty recipe.

It’s no wonder why really — you’ve got the magic of a fizzy bath bomb combined with CBD and maybe even some aromatherapy. Headaches and tension don’t stand a chance!

CBD Bath Bomb Recipe

This simple DIY CBD bath bomb recipe shows you the ropes of how to make CBD bath bombs.

When you’re done, you’ll have six CBD bath bombs cued up for your bathtime rituals. Plop one into the tub to activate the relaxation.

Supplies

  • 1 cup of baking soda
  • ½ cup of citric acid
  • ½ cup of Epsom salt
  • ½ cup cornstarch or arrowroot powder
  • 2 tablespoons melted coconut oil
  • 1 tsp water
  • 6 droppersful Nano CBD Broad Spectrum Oil
  • 10-15 drops of essential oils of your choice
  • Bath bomb molds, a muffin tin, or plastic wrap for shaping
  • Optional: Gloves for shaping and handling the bath bomb mixture (to avoid absorbing the CBD while you work)

Directions

  • Whisk together the baking soda, citric acid, Epsom salt, and cornstarch or arrowroot powder in a bowl.
  • In a large bowl, combine the coconut oil, water, CBD oil, and essential oils.
  • Working in small batches, add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, using a spatula or wooden spoon to combine.
  • Once the mixture is thoroughly combined, transfer it to the molds of your choice. Alternatively, you can shape them into balls and cover them in plastic wrap. Wear gloves if you don’t want to come in contact with the CBD while you’re working.
  • Let the formed bath bombs set for one hour, then remove the mold forms or plastic wrap and let them sit in a dry place at room temperature for 24 hours.

You’ll want to store your bath bomb in a sealed container in a cool, dry place. Keep them separate from your regular bath bombs and put a “contains CBD” label on the container.

DIY CBD Bubble Bath

When it comes to adding CBD oil to a bath, it doesn’t get any easier than a CBD bubble bath.

A few natural ingredients mix together in moments. Simply drizzle the final product into the tub to infuse CBD and optional essential oils for aromatherapy.

CBD Bubble Bath Recipe

This recipe makes around 1¼ cups of bubble bath, which is enough for three super bubbly baths.

Vegetable glycerin is the only not-so-common thing in the ingredients list, but it’s easy to find at health food stores, pharmacies, and online. Once you have it on hand, you can make up a batch of CBD bubble bath in no time flat.

Supplies

  • 1 cup castile soap
  • ¼ cup vegetable glycerin
  • 3 droppersful Nano CBD Water Soluble
  • Optional: 5-7 drops of essential oils
  • Jar with a lid
  • Spoon

Directions

  • Add the ingredients to the mason jar and gently stir with the spoon. Stirring slowly helps prevent bubbles from forming now (and saves them for your bath).

Store with the lid securely fastened. Clearly label the container as “CBD bubble bath.”

DIY CBD Face Oil

Unlike lotions, face oils give your skin a sheer layer of moisture without any unnecessary ingredients. Their *sheer* simplicity (get it?) makes them a great beginner-friendly foray into DIY CBD skincare.

CBD Face Oil Recipe

The most important part of making CBD oil for skin care is to use oils your skin loves. We added some suggestions below, but feel free to mix it up with the best oils for your skin type.

Rub a few drops of your customized CBD face oil onto your face and neck daily for plant-based nourishment.

Supplies

  • 5 teaspoons of your choice of skin-loving oils (Argan oil, sesame oil, hemp seed oil, and jojoba oil are great places to start.)
  • 1 dropperful Nano CBD Broad Spectrum Oil
  • Optional: 3-4 drops essential oil
  • 1 2oz dropper bottle

Directions

Combine all ingredients in a dropper bottle and shake to combine.

Don’t forget to label the bottle as containing CBD so it doesn’t get mixed up with anything else in your skincare or first aid arsenal.

DIY Whipped CBD Body Butter

Thick, creamy body butter makes moisturizing feel decadent. Add CBD and you’ve reached a whole new level of pampering!

You can rub CBD-infused body butter into dry spots — like those pesky elbows and knees — or use as you would a topical CBD rub on sore muscles and joints. Just keep in mind that topical CBD creams usually have other herbal inclusions that make them more effective, so your body butter won’t fully replace a high-quality topical CBD muscles and joint ointment formulation.

Still, a body butter that doubles as a mild muscle-soother is a nice thing to have on hand.

Whipped CBD Body Butter Recipe

Now we’re getting into more hands-on DIY territory — but don’t be intimidated. Making body butter does call for a couple of tools, but you’re very likely already familiar with them if you know your way around a kitchen.

Supplies

  • ½ cup organic shea butter
  • 8 droppersful Nano CBD Broad Spectrum Oil
  • Optional: 8-10 drops essential oil
  • Jar or container with a lid for storage
  • Small saucepan and heat-safe bowl (or a double-boiler)
  • Spatula
  • Electric hand mixer or stand mixer

Directions

  • Bring an inch or so of water to a simmer in a small saucepan. Reduce heat to low. Place a heat-safe bowl on top. Add the shea butter to the bowl. Stir occasionally until the shea butter is melted. (You can use a double-boiler for this step instead of a saucepan+bowl.)
  • Remove the bowl from the heat and add the CBD oil and essential oils (if using).
  • Pop the mixture into the refrigerator to cool and solidify.
  • Once the mixture is firm, remove it from the refrigerator and whip using an electric mixer until it’s smooth and creamy — usually around 5 minutes.
  • Transfer to a jar or other container and seal.

After you make your whipped body butter, be sure to *whip up* a CBD body butter label for the container.

Personalize & Use Quality Ingredients

One of the biggest boons to making your own personal care products is that you can exert more control over what goes into them.

  • Want lighter, stronger, or no fragrance or a particular aromatic blend? You got it.
  • Want to swap in another oil? Go for it.
  • Want to spike it with a little natural food coloring or biodegradable glitter? Heck yah!
  • Want to tweak the recipe a tad? More power to ya.

Our recommendation — no matter how you DIY your bath and beauty goodies — is to incorporate the best ingredients available. When possible, opt for more natural materials, like CBD derived from organic American hemp. Remember, superior ingredients produce better finished products — and you and your wellbeing are worth it!
